Fact: Waskesiu is a vibrant resort community that offers everything from quiet solitude to a very busy social life.

Fact: The marina is a challenging place to work.

My style of management is to arm my staff with everything they need to do their jobs including one week of training. I then step back and I let individuals flourish but will provide guidance.

I engage my staff in all aspects of the business. My staff has created our logo, created the text for our web site and created brochures and training manuals. They have developed new interpretive tours and delivered them. The Narrows Challenge was an idea that was originally put forward by my lead guide. I involve everyone in all aspects of this weekend. The result is a very successful event. The entire marina staff contributes to the success of this weekend and the marina in general. When you contribute and put forth an honest effort you enjoy being part of the success and you feel a great sense of accomplishment.

The end result is that everyone of my staff feels like they are part of the marina “family.”

A successful season for me means that my staff has learned something, they have risen to the challenge, and as a result they feel a sense of accomplishment and have grown as individuals.

They have also had fun, loads of fun!
